Barton 1792 Introduces Wheated Full Proof Bourbon

    Published on

Barton 1792 Distillery has annouced the introduction of 1792 Wheated Full Proof Bourbon, a new 125-proof expression that brings together the sweet, soft character of a wheated bourbon balanced with the bold flavor of full proof – matching the whiskey’s original entry proof to the barrel.

1792 Wheated Full Proof builds on the foundation of 1792 Sweet Wheat, taking the same wheated bourbon style fans have enjoyed for more than a decade and offering it with greater depth and intensity. First introduced in 2015, 1792 Sweet Wheat is crafted with wheat in place of the traditional rye, creating a smooth expression with layers of vanilla, caramel, fruit and oak. By offering at a higher proof, 1792 Wheated Full Proof amplifies those familiar characteristics, delivering greater flavor intensity. The result is a bold evolution of a fan-favorite, with added complexity while preserving its signature sweetness and balance.

“Sweet Wheat has built a passionate following because of its distinctly smooth, rounded flavor profile,” said Ross Cornelissen, Master Distiller at Barton 1792 Distillery. “With Wheated Full Proof, we wanted to take what people already love and show them another side of it. The sweetness is still there, but the higher proof brings greater depth and richness. For someone who already loves high-proof bourbon, this expression offers the kind of bold character they’re looking for. For someone just beginning to explore higher proofs, Wheated Full Proof is an inviting way to discover what higher proof bourbon can offer.”

1792 Wheated Full Proof is distilled and aged at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Established in 1879, Barton 1792 Distillery is the oldest fully operating distillery in Bardstown and has been making whiskey in the heart of bourbon country for nearly 150 years. Today, the historic 196-acre distillery is home to 30 barrel-aging warehouses, an impressive still house and the legendary Tom Moore Spring. The 1792 Bourbon name pays tribute to the year Kentucky became a state, celebrating the Commonwealth and its enduring connection to American whiskey.

1792 Wheated Full Proof Bourbon will be available beginning November 2026 in California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois. Available in a 375mL bottle, 1792 Wheated Full Proof is offered at a suggested retail price of $39.99.
