Amrut Distilleries has launched Amrut Kranthi, a new single malt whisky, across the US through importer PM Spirits at a suggested retail price of $39.99. Bottled non-chill filtered at 40% ABV, the release is the newest addition to the Bengaluru-based distiller’s single malt portfolio.

The whisky’s name signifies “revolution,” reflecting what the brand describes as “the spirit of a self-reliant India.” Kranthi continues Amrut’s two-decade legacy of pioneering Indian single malt whisky on the global stage.

The company positions the launch within the broader growth of the Indian single malt category. From the first case sold, the segment now represents nearly 700,000 cases and an estimated value of around $105 million.

Amrut said the whisky is “the result of years of research, global benchmarking, and patient craftsmanship to create a distinctly Indian single malt with world-class character.”

According to the brand, Kranthi is “equally crafted with consumers at its heart: a whisky designed to mark personal milestones, celebrate achievements, honour relationships, and accompany new beginnings.”

Rakshit N. Jagdale, managing director of Amrut Distilleries, said: “A confident nation cannot rely forever on borrowed symbols of prestige. The next chapter of global luxury will be shaped by Indian brands, Indian craftsmanship, and Indian self-belief.”

He added: “With Kranthi, we celebrate a revolution in mindset — the belief that when the world looks for the finest, it can look to India, and to Amrut as a proud flag bearer of that new era.”

Jagdale also described the launch as “a tribute to my beloved father, Mr. Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, whose vision, courage, and pioneering spirit laid the foundation for India’s single malt journey.”

The official tasting notes from the brand describe an “expressive and fruit-forward” nose, with aromas of tropical fruits, subtle floral nuances, and a sweet citrus backbone reminiscent of pomelo.

On the palate, the whisky is “vibrant and fruit-driven on entry,” developing gentle tannins, creamy vanilla, and a light dusting of spice. The finish is “clean and refreshing.”

Founded in 1948 by the late Radhakrishna Jagdale, Amrut is part of the NR Jagdale Group. The distiller gained global recognition in 2009 when Amrut Fusion was named the third-best whisky in the world, a milestone that helped elevate Indian single malt internationally.
