Lexington’s Town Branch Distillery, the first new distillery built in the central city of the Bluegrass since prohibition has released a 17 year old Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey as Vol. 3 of its Archive Series, marking a rare chapter in Kentucky’s whiskey history for malt whiskey. This 100 proof, non-chilled filtered, single barrel expression was distilled and bottled by Town Branch Distillery and has a suggested retail price of $399.99 for a 750ml bottle.
The Archive Series from Town Branch is a collection of rare American Single Malts, introduced in 2024, showcasing the oldest Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey ever bottled-in-bond. Over the coming years, Town Branch will continue unveiling these exceptional whiskeys to the world. The inaugural installment features a vertical of bottled-in-bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskeys — each age-stated, single-barrel, and bottled under bond — crafted to preserve and celebrate these extraordinary stocks.
This year’s 17-year-old release continues that legacy, marking a rare chapter in Kentucky whiskey history and American Single Malt Whiskey production as the oldest age-stated American Single Malt Whiskey ever released. Town Branch began distilling in 2008 and the casks selected for the Bottled-in-Bond Archive Series are among some of the very first barrels produced on the distillery’s gleaming Forsyth’s dual copper pot stills, preserving a remarkable piece of Town Branch’s early history.
“These are very old barrels we’ve selected for the Archive Series. The hard work lies in preserving the whiskey and knowing when it’s ready to be shared. The easy part is getting to taste all the incredible things still to come from our single malt whiskey program. Consider this a little preview of what the future holds,” notes Dave Bob Gaspar, Head Distiller and Blender at Town Branch Distillery.
