Wes Henderson, who co-founded Angel’s Envy and went on to found True Story, has been accused by members of his own family of secretly filming them at his hotel, the Kenutcky Castle, and at his vacation properties. The allegations include the filming of minors.

The lawsuit was filed in June in Oldham County, Kentucky, accusing Henderson of invasion of privacy, voyeurism, and possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. It details the discovery of 15 hidden cameras at a vacation home, as well as SD disk cards that contained videos of intimate situation and sex acts. The Kentucky Castle enters the scenario because some of the videos were of incidents recorded there. The family that filed the lawsuit reached out to their relations, including Henderson’s wife, and found further cameras.

The lawsuit also describes that Henderson was confronted over his actions and demonstrated remorse.

The lawsuit has been sealed, but documents relating to it were given over to Janet Patton at the Lexington Herald-Leader. Wes Henderson has not commented at time of posting, and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.

Henderson co-founded Angel’s Envy with his father Lincoln (who passed in 2013), launching their first product in 2011, and later sold the company to Campari for a reported $150 million in 2015. Henderson stayed on at Angel’s Envy until 2022 and bought the hotel The Kentucky Castle in 2023. He launched True Story, a new whiskey brand, in 2024, and tied to that was a plan to combined a new distillery with The Kentucky Castle into a hotel-drinks-tourst destination complex.

True Story itself is the subject of at least three other lawsuits, with their former architects, marketing firm and consultant Peggy Noe Stevens suing them for a combined total of at least $1.6 million.
