Derbyshire-based White Peak Distillery has released Wire Works Caduro X, a limited-edition single malt English whisky created to celebrate the producer’s 10th anniversary. Only 1,000 bottles of the lightly peated expression have been produced, with an RRP of £75.

The bottling will go on sale on April 25 at the distillery, online, and through select UK retail partners including The Whisky Exchange and The Whisky Shop.

Caduro X takes its inspiration from the Caduro expression in the Wire Works Provenance Core range. It is a vatting of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and signature STR (shaved, toasted, and re-charred) ex-red wine casks.

The anniversary release incorporates both “regular-cuts” and “alt-cuts” single malts. Alternate distillation cut-points were used to create a brighter, more tropical fruit-forward profile, alongside a subtle increase in peat influence.

The whisky has been proofed down to a bottling strength of 46.8% ABV using “special waters.” This technique involves the maturation of low-strength spirit in oak casks to extract additional water-soluble flavors and textures. The liquid is presented at natural color and is non-chill filtered.

Claire Vaughan, co-founder of White Peak, said: “Over the past ten years, we’ve taken a hands-on approach to learn more about how whisky develops its character — exploring every step from mashing and fermentation through distillation, maturation, and vatting.”

Vaughan added: “Caduro X marks a milestone, but moreover is the evolution of these ideas. We are a small team of whisky enthusiasts, constantly exploring, testing, and refining in pursuit of flavor.”

She continued: “This mindset is at the heart of The Wire Works — a place with a 150-plus year history of making, where innovation and craft go hand in hand.”

Vaughan also credited the distillery’s supporters. “What’s made the journey truly special, though, is the community around us,” she said. “From the very beginning, we’ve been supported by an incredible group of people who’ve believed in what we’re building. We hope the next ten years continue in that same spirit — bringing people together, sharing what we make, and always striving to do it better.”

Official tasting notes from the brand describe Caduro X as delivering “a rich, sweet and spicy character, layered with orchard and tropical fruits, toffee, chocolate, and a gentle thread of smoke.”

On the nose, the distillery notes banoffee pie, egg custard tarts, wine gums, baked apple, orange zest, and a hint of peat. The palate offers cinnamon rolls, pineapple cubes, milk chocolate, and gentle tannins, while the finish features cinder toffee, candied ginger, honey, and soft wood smoke.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 and operates from the restored 19th-century Johnson & Nephew Wire Works in Ambergate, now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The distillery has earned more than 25 awards to date, including Whisky of the Year 2026 from The Whisky Exchange and Best World Whisky 2025 at the Online Scotch Whisky Awards.

The producer uses a combination of English unpeated and peated malt barley and employs a seven-day fermentation with a unique yeast blend incorporating spent yeast sourced from a local Peak District brewery.
