One of the things Newport, Kentucky’s New Riff Distilling is best known for is its releases of whiskeys relying on malted rye. This week, the distillery brought out its first ever malted rye single barrel whiskey.
“We’re excited to introduce Malted Rye as the fourth offering in our robust Single Barrel program,” said Chief Sales Officer Rawnica Dillingham. “It’s something we’ve heard strong demand for, and we’re thrilled it’s now available for selections, giving our trade partners and private Single Barrel customers a chance to enjoy a truly unique New Riff experience.“
This new take on New Riff’s much lauded 100% malted rye stock is bottled at 6 years old and at cask strength. The expression joins New Riff’s 6 year old single barrel bourbon.
“Our Single Barrel Malted Rye showcases the whiskey in its purest form,” said Master Distiller Brian Sprance. “Crafted from 100% malted rye, a rare style in today’s whiskey market, each barrel offers its own distinct flavor profile, with bold fruit character balanced by soft caramel undertones that let the whiskey speak for itself. This release is an exciting opportunity to experience New Riff Malted Rye at barrel proof, fully unblended and expressive of its individual character.“
New Riff takes pride in offering an educational and engaging barrel selection experience every bit as singular as the barrels themselves. Each Single Barrel Selection Experience includes full tours of the distillery and West Campus, where New Riff houses the rickhouses and bottling hall and hosts single barrel picks in a turn-of-the-century tasting room. After, guests are treated to a post-pick stop at The Aquifer Tasting Room.
