Glen Scotia Distillery marked King Charles III’s visit to Campbeltown today with a specially engraved bottle of its award-winning 25 Year Old single malt whisky. The commemorative bottling features unique engraving reading “To celebrate the royal visit of King Charles to Campbeltown 3rd July 2025.”

The presentation highlights Campbeltown’s growing recognition as Scotland’s smallest whisky-producing region experiences a notable revival. Glen Scotia created the bespoke expression specifically for the royal occasion, selecting a whisky that has earned Platinum recognition six times in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition since 2018.

Royal Recognition for Campbeltown’s Whisky Heritage

Campbeltown once held the title of the world’s whisky capital, and today’s royal visit signals renewed attention for the region’s distilling traditions. Glen Scotia has positioned itself at the center of this whisky renaissance.

“It’s a tremendous honour to welcome His Majesty to Campbeltown,” said Iain McAlister, Glen Scotia distillery manager. “His visit not only recognises the town’s historical significance, but also its vibrant whisky-making community. We are proud to gift The King a bespoke bottling of our 25 Year Old to celebrate this special moment, a whisky that reflects the depth of character and craftsmanship which define Glen Scotia and Campbeltown.”

Coastal Character Defines Glen Scotia’s 25 Year Old Expression

The whisky presented to King Charles showcases Glen Scotia’s distinctive coastal influences. The 25-year-old expression underwent aging in American oak casks before finishing in first-fill bourbon barrels, creating what the distillery describes as exceptional single malt character.

The commemorative presentation represents more than a ceremonial gesture, serving as recognition of Campbeltown’s efforts to rebuild its whisky reputation. Glen Scotia’s consistent competition success, particularly its repeated Platinum awards, demonstrates the quality levels driving the region’s renewed prominence in Scottish whisky production.
