    Aberfeldy Distillery, the Highland home of Dewar’s blended scotch whisky. Is celebrating 25 years since the opening of its visitor centre and whisky experience. The milestone is being marked with the release of a limited edition Aberfeldy 22 Year Old finished in Oloroso sherry casks. 

    This limited release forms part of the distillery’s Exceptional Cask Series. Featuring just 552 bottles worldwide and highlighting the brand’s continued focus on premium expressions. 

    Aberfeldy Distillery 22 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish

    The anniversary whisky represents a carefully monitored finishing process, with traditional oak-matured spirit receiving additional aging in Oloroso sherry casks sourced from Jerez, Spain. 

    Stephanie Macleod, Aberfeldy Distillery Malt Master, explained the development process behind the commemorative release. 

    “With finishing, the goal is always to complement, never mask, the whisky’s inherent qualities. For this 22-Year-Old, we monitored the cask development carefully to ensure the Oloroso influence provided depth, warmth, and additional layers of fruit and spice,” Macleod said. “It felt like the perfect way to mark 25 years of welcoming visitors to the distillery. By sharing a whisky that reflects the character and craft we’ve become known for”.   

    The resulting 22-year-old single malt showcases sweet orchard fruits, pear and caramelized apples, with vanilla and heather honey notes complemented by toasted oak and gentle clove undertones.

    Bottled at 46% ABV, the limited edition expression carries a price tag of £195 and will be available exclusively through the distillery and its online store. 

    Milestone Celebrations 

    Meanwhile, the release coincides with a quarter-century of welcoming visitors to Aberfeldy Distillery, where the distillery has become a key Highland whisky tourism destination.
    For instance, located in the heart of Scotland, the visitor center has established itself as a cornerstone of the region’s whisky trail. Offering enthusiasts the opportunity to experience both Aberfeldy Distillery single malts and Dewar’s blended scotch whiskies.
    Furthermore, the distillery plans to host special events, tastings, and behind-the-scenes experiences throughout 2025 to commemorate the anniversary.
    In fact, these celebrations will showcase the legacy and craftsmanship behind Aberfeldy Distillery award-winning whiskies. Additionally, enthusiasts will also have unique opportunities to explore the distillery’s heritage.
    Finally, the visitor experience has become increasingly important to scotch whisky. Producers as global interest in production methods and brand stories continues to drive whisky tourism across Scotland.
