Isle of Raasay Distillery has unveiled a special limited edition single malt whisky celebrating Skye Live Festival‘s 10th anniversary, coinciding with the distillery’s own decade-long journey from concept to creation. R&B Distillers founders, Alisdair Day and Bill Dobbie, decided in 2015 that the Isle of Raasay would be the perfect place to build their distillery.

This exclusive release is a variation on The Draam, the distillery’s signature single malt. Using its established six-cask recipe of peated and unpeated spirit, this edition introduces Virgin Quercus Humboldtii Colombian oak, replacing the Virgin Chinkapin oak typically used in The Draam.

“As a distillery fascinated by the influence of oak on flavour, working with different oak species is central to our innovation,” says Alasdair Day, Master Distiller at Isle of Raasay Distillery. “This special release is not only a nod to 10 years of Skye Live Festival but also to our own journey – a decade since our dream of building our Hebridean distillery first took shape, on a blank sheet of paper.”

The limited edition maintains the distillery’s signature approach of balancing peated and unpeated spirit, matured separately in three distinct cask types: Ex-American Rye, Virgin Quercus Humboldtii Colombian Oak, and Ex-Bordeaux Red Wine.

Bottled at 46.7% ABV, the resulting whisky features notes of crème brûlée and rich dark fruits, offering whisky enthusiasts a distinctive expression of the Raasay style.

With only 1,500 bottles available in the UK, this celebratory release will be the pouring whisky during the three-day Skye Live Festival from May 8th, 2025, to May 10th, 2025. The whisky is available for purchase at £60 on the Isle of Raasay Distillery website from now until June 1st.

    Supporting Lucky2Bhere

Ten percent of all online bottle sales of the Isle of Raasay Skye Live whisky will benefit Lucky2Bhere, a Scottish charity providing public access defibrillators and emergency life support training throughout Scotland.

“Lucky2Bhere is an incredible local charity doing vital work across Scotland,” said Niall Munro, Director of Skye Live. “Its founder, Ross Cowie—who sadly passed away last year—was a true pillar of the community and a passionate supporter of local causes. We’re honoured to support Lucky2Bhere in his memory and to help carry forward the legacy he built.”

Skye Live Festival, known for its fusion of Scottish traditional and electronic music, has inspired numerous artists, including Niteworks, Elephant Sessions, Talisk, and newer acts like Valtos. Saturday and weekend tickets are already sold out, with limited Thursday and Friday tickets still available on the Skye Live website.
