International Beverage has announced the worldwide launch of PRAKAAN, Thailand’s first premium single malt whisky. The historic release marks Thailand’s entry into the global whisky market with three distinctive expressions hitting international shelves in 2025.

PRAKAAN Debuts Thai Single Malt Whisky in Global Markets

The launch introduces The Tribura Series, featuring PRAKAAN Select Cask at $69.99 (£65), PRAKAAN Double Cask at $89.99 (£74), and PRAKAAN Peated Malt at $79.99 (£69). Each 70cl bottle showcases Thailand’s unique whisky-making conditions and local craftsmanship.

International Beverage will initially target the UK, France, and Germany in 2025 before expanding to the USA and other markets. The company has developed an ambitious sales and marketing strategy to establish Thai whisky on the global spirits map.

“This is a historic day for our business and for Thailand as we launch the country’s first ever single malt whisky onto the world stage,” said Veronica Amago, Global Sales Director at International Beverage. “PRAKAAN Distillery is the result of care, precision and skilful planning, and our whisky is defined by the skill and expertise of our formidable whisky creation team in Kamphaeng Phet. The recently awarded inaugural Tribura Series is a celebration of their achievement. We are proud and honoured to be sharing it with the world today.”

Thai Terroir Creates Distinctive Whisky Character

PRAKAAN Distillery sits in Kamphaeng Phet province within Thailand’s Western Forest Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The region’s hot, humid climate and pure spring water create ideal conditions for producing whisky with a distinctive Thai character.

The distillery features two underground warehouses housing 30,000 to 50,000 casks each. These facilities control maturation in Thailand’s tropical climate. The whisky ages in American Oak ex-bourbon casks and Spanish Oak ex-sherry casks.

The name PRAKAAN translates to “wall” or “fort,” honoring the ancient fortifications that once protected Kamphaeng Phet. The Tribura Series takes inspiration from these walls’ three fortified layers, representing Thai history, provenance, and passion.

Thai Single Malt Whisky Offers Tropical Fruit Notes

All three PRAKAAN expressions share tropical fruit notes and vanilla sweetness that define this new category of Thai whisky. The Select Cask delivers soft tropical fruit with honey sweetness and creamy vanilla. The Double Cask combines rich tropical fruit with chocolate and vanilla layers. The Peated Malt balances fresh tropical fruit with soft wood smoke.

Each whisky is bottled at 43% ABV and will reach specialist retailers in key global markets. The sustainable, state-of-the-art distillery uses the region’s natural resources to craft these premium spirits.

PRAKAAN represents International Beverage’s latest addition to its award-winning spirits portfolio. The launch positions Thailand as a new player in the premium whisky category, competing with established whisky-producing nations.

The global roll-out follows successful launches in domestic and Asian markets last year. International Beverage’s expertise in producing premium spirits worldwide supports this ambitious expansion into Western markets.
