Edinburgh-based whisky maker Gleann Mòr Spirits marks its 10th anniversary with five new limited-edition releases that push the boundaries of traditional cask maturation. The collection features the company’s first bottling from Annandale Distillery and a rare white port cask experiment from Pulteney.

New Whisky Releases Feature Innovative Finishing Techniques

The summer lineup showcases experimental approaches to cask finishing across five single malt scotch whiskies. The releases include a Craigellachie 11-year-old finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, available exclusively online for £75, and an Annandale peated 6-year-old exploring sherry barrique maturation, also priced at £75.

“These upcoming summer releases reflect our unwavering commitment to quality and flavour,” said Greg Urquhart, Spirits Manager for Rare Find. “Each bottle captures a distinct narrative – not only of the whisky’s maturation journey but also of Rare Find’s evolution over the past ten years.”

The Glenglassaugh 11-year-old features a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru finish, priced at $79.00, while the Pulteney 17-year-old represents the company’s first use of white port casks at £115. The collection’s premium offering, a Braeval 16-year-old with first-fill ex-bourbon cask finish, recently earned an IWSC Gold Medal with 95 points and retails for £139.

Scotch Whisky Collection Demonstrates Decade of Innovation

Rare Find, established in Leith, has built its reputation by sourcing from Scotland’s most sought-after distilleries. The company focuses on what it calls “whisky that’s rare by design,” selecting limited quantities from the millions of casks maturing across Scotland.

The Annandale release marks the beginning of an evolving series examining the effects of smaller 225-liter sherry casks on maturation. Meanwhile, the Pulteney expression’s six-month white port finish coincidentally matches the age statement of the discontinued Old Pulteney 17-year-old, a beloved expression among collectors.

Official tasting notes for the Craigellachie describe aromas of baking spices, raisins, and cigar leaf, with flavors of dark chocolate and prunes. The Pulteney offers white fruit and pear drops on the nose, with cantaloupe melon and sea salt on the palate.

The collection launches July 7, 2025, at select retailers, with an online exclusive tasting pack of Awards winning releases available for £49. The releases demonstrate how independent bottlers continue to innovate within scotch whisky’s traditional framework, exploring new finishing techniques while respecting the spirit’s heritage.
