Loch Lomond Group is releasing an unprecedented three-year series from Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, offering collectors a chance to experience the evolution of a single cask over time.

The Loch Lomond Group has unveiled Littlemill Echoes of the Past, an ultra-rare collection of single malt scotch whiskies exclusively for travel retail. This exceptional series represents a whisky industry first by allowing collectors to witness the evolving maturation of a single cask over three consecutive years.

A Final Chapter for Scotland’s Oldest Distillery

Littlemill, now lost to history as Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery (granted in 1773), has only a handful of casks remaining. The Echoes of the Past collection pays tribute to Littlemill’s distilling legacy, with the last custodians selecting a single Oloroso sherry cask for this exclusive project.

Only 50 bottles will be drawn annually from the cask, allowing the remaining spirit to continue maturing. This approach enables collectors to experience the whisky’s evolution through a three-part limited edition release.

“Littlemill is a name that holds a revered place in Scotch whisky history,” said Luke Maga, Managing Director – Global Travel Retail, Loch Lomond Group. “With the launch of Echoes of the Past, we are honoured to play a role in preserving Littlemill’s legacy through this exclusive release.”

Littlemill Echoes of the Past 34 Year Old

The first release, Littlemill Echoes of the Past 34 Year Old, will arrive in select travel retail locations in 2025. Distilled in 1990 and bottled at cask strength (48.5% ABV) the whisky spent 25 years in a refill American oak hogshead before being recasked into an Oloroso sherry cask in 2025.

The whisky itself is presented in individually numbered Glencairn glass decanters with intricate engraving.

Each expression comes housed in an oak display cabinet with elegantly curved facets and a stone interior that pays homage to the distillery’s historical significance. There is also a dedicated drawer containing a 50ml miniature and a certificate of ownership.

Littlemill Echoes of the Past 34 Year Old offers a complex profile with floral notes of rose petals and elderflower on the nose, alongside dried apricot, kiwi, and peach. The palate delivers a silky mouthfeel with melted brown sugar, honeysuckle, vanilla fudge, and citrus notes balanced with warming cinnamon and ginger spice.

Whisky collectors and global travellers can find the first release in key travel retail locations worldwide from July 1st, according to the brand press release from Loch Lomond Group. No pricing details were given.
