Highland distillery Glengoyne has launched its new Oak Masters’ Series with two white oak-matured expressions, marking a significant departure from the brand’s traditional sherry-forward flavor profile.

The White Oak range introduces both a permanent addition to Glengoyne’s core lineup and an exclusive 24-year-old limited edition. Both expressions are matured exclusively in American ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks, creating what the brand describes as a “light and golden flavor profile.” Launched in the UK in 2024, the Glengoyne White Oak whiskies are now available in the U.S.

“As part of our new Oak Masters’ Series, we are releasing two exceptional Glengoyne whiskies, fully matured exclusively in American White Oak, including a remarkable limited 24-year-old,” said Gordon Dundas, Brand Advocacy Director for Glengoyne. “With this new range, we are expanding our core offerings and broadening the taste profile, while staying true to the character that has made Glengoyne celebrated since 1833.”

The standard White Oak whisky (47.8% ABV) joins the distillery’s permanent portfolio at $59.99. The expression has already earned gold medals at both the International Spirits Competition 2024 and San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024.

For collectors and connoisseurs, the limited-edition 24 Year Old (47.8% ABV) offers a more mature exploration of American oak influence, priced at $399.99. Once the limited-edition whisky is gone, it’s gone for good – making this a true collector’s opportunity.

    A New Direction

The series draws inspiration from North America, which the distillery notes is the summer home of geese that migrate to Glengoyne’s namesake valley each winter. This 3,000-mile migration story connects the Scottish distillery with the American oak featured in the new range.

According to the distillery, the Oak Masters’ Series represents the beginning of a “global journey in oak exploration” with future releases planned to feature virgin oak from various regions around the world.

Master Blender John Glass commented on the new direction: “Our commitment to the highest quality wood shows in every expression from Glengoyne, and the White Oak Series is a celebration of just that. I love the balance between the distillery character and the vanilla, coconut, and spice from the bourbon casks.”

The White Oak range maintains Glengoyne’s commitment to slow distillation while introducing fans to a distinctly different maturation style than the distillery’s traditional releases.

Both expressions are now available through Total Wine & More and specialty whisky retailers across the United States.
