Garrison Brothers Distillery, Texas’ first legal bourbon distillery, has announced the 2025 release of its award-winning Lady Bird bourbon. The bourbon’s namesake, former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, was steadfastly committed to conserving native Texas wildflowers. This limited expression, first introduced in 2023, will see 7,110 bottles available this year.
The first 1,000 bottles will be released on Saturday, April 5, at the distillery on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8 a.m. With each purchase, Garrison Brothers will donate $5 to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas.
A Unique Aging Process
Lady Bird begins as small batch bourbon aged for four years in new white American oak barrels. It’s then infused with Burleson’s Texas Wildflower Honey for an additional 8-9 months to create their HoneyDew expression before being transferred to French Cognac XO casks for a final three-year maturation.
The bourbon is bottled at 114 proof, with each bottle hand-sealed with Prairie Purple wax.
Master Distiller Donnis Todd describes Lady Bird as “a harmonious marriage of honey and cognac flavors,” with tasting notes including freshly cut grass, sweet honey, black cocoa waffle cone, honey wafers, buckwheat pancakes, dark chocolate-covered cherries, malted milk balls, cognac cherries, dried figs and plums.
Lady Bird Johnson & Lady Bird Bourbon
The creation of Lady Bird represents the vision of Garrison Brothers co-founder Nancy Garrison and Master Distiller Donnis Todd. Since Lady Bird’s first release in 2023, the distillery has donated over $67,000 to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center from bottle sales.
“Our Garrison Brothers Lady Bird bourbon continues to honor the work of Lady Bird Johnson and the many gifts she gave us. We are thrilled to be able to help fund special programs at The Lady Bird Wildflower Center through the upcoming release,” said Nancy Garrison, Co-founder of Garrison Brothers.
The Wildflower Center will host an informational tent at the distillery’s release day event, providing guests an opportunity to learn more about their environmental work.
Garrison Brothers is also the presenting sponsor for the LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour 2025, taking place on April 2, 2025, throughout Texas Hill Country.
Following the April 5 release, the remaining 6,110 bottles will be available for online purchase by May and distributed to retail, restaurant, and bar accounts nationwide. Lady Bird’s suggested retail price is $179.99.
