Munster’s largest whiskey celebration returns next month as Cork Whiskey Fest prepares to take over the MacCurtain Street area from March 21-23, 2025. Now in its third year, the festival has expanded its lineup to include more than 20 events across multiple venues.
With many sessions already sold out three weeks before opening day, organizers are urging whiskey enthusiasts to secure remaining tickets quickly.
The festival’s signature events, the Brand Expo & Socials at The Metropole Hotel, will feature 50 Irish whiskey distilleries and brands offering complimentary samples during evening showcases on Friday and Saturday. This year’s expo has expanded beyond whiskey to include gin, rum, vodka, and poitín.
Cork Whiskey Fest Rare Tastings and Exclusive Events
Among the highlighted events still available is the Copeland Distillery Warehouse Tasting on March 22, featuring hand-picked cask samples from what organizers describe as “Ireland’s smallest boutique distillery.”
Other available sessions include Midleton’s Method & Madness Tasting led by Micro Distillery Head Distiller Barrett Stapleton, a Vintage Irish Bottle Tasting at The Shelbourne Bar, and a Powerscourt Distillery Tasting featuring industry veteran John Cashman.
Festival co-founder Laurie O’Dwyer said, “We are thrilled to bring Cork Whiskey Fest back for 2025. Each year, the festival grows in popularity, drawing whiskey lovers from all over Ireland and beyond. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or taking your first sip, there’s something for everyone. It will be a weekend of whiskies, craic, and discovery.”
Industry Support and Community Focus
The 2025 festival is sponsored by Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, The Shelbourne Bar, and Cork-based retailer IrishMalts.com.
The Shelbourne Bar, recognized as Ireland’s Best Whiskey Bar for multiple years, will serve as the festival’s official social hub throughout the weekend.
John O’Donovan, owner of IrishMalts.com, said: “As a Cork-based business, we’re incredibly proud to support this celebration of Irish whiskey. Cork Whiskey Fest is not just a festival—it’s a community that brings people together to share stories, experiences, and a genuine passion for whiskey.”
Organized by Laurie O’Dwyer, host of Whiskey Chats Podcast, and his wife Sonya O’Dwyer, the festival has established itself as a significant event on Ireland’s spirits calendar in just three years.
The expanded festival program highlights Cork’s growing reputation as a center for Irish whiskey appreciation and expertise, with the MacCurtain Street area serving as the vibrant backdrop for all events.
