Compass Box Scotch Whisky has revealed details of its Hedonism 2025 Limited Annual Release, marking a significant evolution for the pioneering blended grain whisky that helped establish the brand in 2000.

The 2025 edition, available globally from March 1, features artwork by Argentinian artist Sofia Bonati, continuing Hedonism’s tradition as the first whisky to feature a female form on its label. The release is limited to 9,912 bottles worldwide with an SRP of $150 [£118].

The blend features single grain whisky from Cameronbridge Distillery, which underwent additional maturation in a first-fill Marsala barrique for two years.

The composition also includes single grain from Girvan Distillery and components from previous Hedonism vattings, including 16-year-old and 19-year-old expressions.

The resulting flavor profile carries aromas of peach purée, cocoa and pear on the nose. On the palate, drinkers can expect chocolate mousse, nutmeg-infused custard, white grape, Fuji apple, and vanilla.

“One of the exciting things about Hedonism becoming a Limited Annual Release is that we not only get to collaborate with a different artist each year to put a new stamp on the label, but it also gives us the opportunity to explore a twist on the whisky itself,” says Whiskymaking Director, James Saxon. “The 2025 release is unmistakably Hedonism in style and texture, but with the addition of one ex-Marsala barrique and some casks of previous batches, we push the flavors into new territories.”

Hedonism 2025 is elevated by the work of Buenos Aires-born artist, Sofia Bonati. Bonati drew inspiration from compass magnetic fields for her label design. Her interpretation combines her signature dreamlike female portraits with elements reflecting the whisky’s character through vibrant colors and intricate patterns.

Her artistic process involves layering pencils, watercolor, and acrylic gouache to create captivating, dreamlike portraits. The resulting figures maintain the grace and power of the original Hedonism woman while radiating a sense of empowerment through strong gazes and serene poses.

“The way that Sofia has captured the essence of the original Hedonism woman in her own style is incredible,” says Assistant Whiskymaker, Michael Stephenson. “She represented the unique elements of this edition’s recipe and taste profile through color that really draws the eye. I can’t wait to see this out in the world and for people to taste it.”

The project also involved acclaimed London photographer Helen Murray, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, The Sunday Times, and The Guardian, to capture the 2025 release.

The transformation of Hedonism into a Limited Annual Release represents a new chapter for Compass Box, allowing the brand to explore both artistic collaboration and whisky innovation while honoring its pioneering heritage in the blended grain category.
