Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the return of its annual charitable program, “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities,” ahead of Bottled-in-Bond Day. The initiative honors Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr.’s legacy while supporting nonprofit organizations across the United States committed to community improvement.
Taylor, who owned Buffalo Trace Distillery from 1869-1878, is widely regarded as the founding father of the modern bourbon industry. His technological innovations and advocacy were instrumental in the passage of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act. The charitable initiative pays tribute to the 100 proof alcohol measurement required for Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys.
Success in First Year
The inaugural year of the program supported organizations from 36 states, raising more than $134,000 for various causes. Beneficiaries included organizations dedicated to veteran services, youth education and programming, cancer treatment, and animal rescue and adoption.
“It is incredible to see the work being done by nonprofit organizations around the country and we believe Taylor would be proud to know his legacy continues to bring such a positive change to countless communities,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director, Buffalo Trace Distillery.“The 100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities initiative celebrates those who, like Taylor, have a passion for improving the world. We are proud to support nonprofit organizations in their efforts to better lives and communities.”
100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities

The 100 bourbon sets will feature products from some of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s most sought-after brands, including E.H. Taylor Jr., Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Weller, and others. The number of bottles in each set may vary.
Charities of all types are encouraged to apply beginning March 3, 2025, in commemoration of Bottled-in-Bond Day. Applications must be submitted within 100 days—by June 11, 2025. Selected organizations will be announced the week of July 28, 2025, with bottle sets delivered within 30 days following the announcement.
Buffalo Trace will handle transportation logistics according to each state’s legal requirements. Once received, nonprofits are responsible for executing programs that comply with their state’s legal specifications and must report funds raised by December 31, 2025.
The Bottled-in-Bond Legacy
The Bottled-in-Bond Act was groundbreaking legislation that revolutionized the American whiskey industry. Its passage improved quality and consumer safety across categories, eventually influencing the formation of the modern FDA.
For a spirit to qualify as Bottled-in-Bond, it must be produced in a single distillation season by a single distillery, mature in a U.S. bonded warehouse for at least four years, and be bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
The “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative celebrates both this historic standard and those who, like Taylor himself, are committed to positive community impact.
