Lancaster Spirits Co. (LSCo), located in the North West of England, has unveiled an innovative whisky club program designed to give enthusiasts unprecedented access to its developing single malt portfolio through a comprehensive tiered membership system. The English distillery’s Founders Reserve program introduces three distinct membership levels, providing options from entry-level engagement to extended commitments spanning five and ten years. The initiative represents a significant development in England’s emerging whisky landscape.

“The launch of our Founders’ Reserve is a relatively accessible way of introducing whisky enthusiasts to sample our signature new-make spirit as it matures in cask into an exquisitely flavoured English single malt whisky,” says Christopher Pateman, Commercial Manager at LSCo.

The program’s entry-level Discovery membership includes a welcome package featuring a 50cl bottle of new-make spirit, bespoke LSCo Glencairn glassware, and an exclusive membership card. Discovery members receive priority access to limited edition releases and distillery tour privileges.

Gold tier members secure a more extensive commitment, receiving annual 70cl bottle allocations from 2025 through 2029, along with enhanced access to exclusive bottlings and behind-the-scenes experiences including whisky tastings and meet-the-maker events.

The premium Platinum tier extends these benefits through 2034, with members receiving ten annual bottles and additional exclusive experiences, including chef-prepared dinners and first access to new releases.

Entry to the Founders’ Reserve Club is now open. More information can be found on Lancaster Spirits Co.’s website

    Distinctive Production Approach

Lancaster Spirits Co.’s whisky production incorporates several unique elements that set it apart in the industry. The distillery utilizes 200-year-old brewers’ yeast and water from its private aquifer, creating what Pateman describes as “complex with distinctly different flavor profiles as they continue to mature.”

Alongside the membership program, Lancaster Spirits Co. has introduced ‘Still in Cask’, a separate platform enabling whisky enthusiasts to pre-order bottles from specific maturing casks. A highlight of this program is Cask #39, the distillery’s inaugural first-fill Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask.

This particular cask is developing characteristic rich, sweet notes with hints of ripe sultanas, raisins, and rich treacle, with bottling scheduled for 2029. The company notes that bottling, duty, and VAT will be payable upon maturation at prevailing rates.

    Industry Innovation

The structured membership approach represents a novel development for England’s growing whisky industry, offering enthusiasts a way to follow spirit development without the substantial investment typically required for cask ownership – especially in a young and unproven market.

All membership tiers include various levels of distillery access and priority notification for special releases, with higher tiers adding exclusive events and intimate distillery experiences. This approach allows enthusiasts to engage with the brand at their preferred level of commitment while following the development of English whisky.
