In late March 2025, Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson approved the release of Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon.

“Rather than on a strict age schedule, at Michter’s we bottle whiskey when our production team deems it fully matured. This continues the standards set by Michter’s first Kentucky Master Distiller Willie Pratt,” said Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco.

As a result, the company has sometimes skipped years for its Michter’s 10 Year Old Bourbon, as well as other limited edition expressions that are generally considered annual releases.

The 2025 Michter’s 10 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon is 94.4 Proof (47.2% ABV.). I had the pleasure of sipping the bottle labeled # 25BO726.

    The Bourbon
The whiskey’s appearance in my glass is a deep amber color, with rusty golden hues hinting noteworthy caramelization from slow barrel aging. With a slight swirl, this whiskey exhibits a protracted honey-like viscosity as it slowly clings to the sides of my Glencairn glass. There appears to be natural oiliness to this bourbon whiskey.

The nose jumps out at me with a toasted vanilla/Caramel burst and a significant hint of oak.

On further investigation I detect dried apricots with traditional baking spices and hint of cocoa, and a brown sugar covered vanilla cookie. The front palate is warm smooth with honeyed sweetness and a drizzle of caramel.  The mid-palate is viscus and rich with toasted oak, vanilla/Caramel swirl and a hint of sweet peppery cinnamon.  The finish is warm, long, and mouthwatering with a buttery consistency and notes of dark dried fruits, vanilla and dry oak sweetness.

This is incredibly well-balanced with a consistent splash of sweet oak. The overall mouthfeel of this bourbon whiskey is outright amazing and draws me in for multiple pours. It’s viscus, ultra-rich and silky on my palate with a flavor profile that roles throughout a long finish.

Michter’s 10 Year Old Bourbon is always an elegant whiskey with a complex flavor profile, and this time around is no exception. This bourbon drinks like a middle aged Kentucky whiskey, in my humble opinion.

    The Price
The 2025 release has a suggested retail price of $195 for a 750ml bottle in the U.S.
