
Scottish organic whisky distillery Nc’nean is expanding its American presence with the launch of a cask strength expression, responding to growing consumer demand across the United States. The release marks a significant milestone for the pioneering distillery, which has seen strong reception since entering the U.S. market in late 2023.

The new cask strength offering delivers Nc’nean’s signature organic single malt in its most natural form, bottled at approximately 59% ABV. This represents a notable step up from the distillery’s flagship expression, offering consumers a more intense whisky experience whilst maintaining the brand’s characteristic light and fruity profile.
“I’m really excited to be adding a cask strength whisky to our flagship range,” said Annabel Thomas, founder of Nc’nean. “When this expression was previously bottled exclusively for some of our fans in Germany, we received such an enthusiastic response about the fruitiness and spice that the higher alcohol strength brings to our signature whisky. With this in mind, we decided to roll it out across our other markets. If you’re a fan of cask strength whiskies, then this one is for you!”
The whisky showcases enhanced notes of spiced rye bread, juicy peaches, and tangy lemons compared to the standard bottling. Made from organic Scottish barley, the spirit benefits from natural yields and rich soils that contribute additional depth of flavour.
The cask strength expression will be available in liquor stores across 25 states, with online delivery extending to 44 states through ncnean-usa.com. The whisky carries a recommended retail price of $99.99 and will begin rolling out from June 2025.
Award-Winning Recognition
The cask strength expression has already garnered critical acclaim in international markets. A previous German-exclusive bottling earned a Master medal at The Drinks Business and Spirits Business Spring Tasting, with judges praising it as “An excellent example of a cask strength Scotch single malt. Incredible depth and complexity, and great integration of high abv.”
This new whisky undergoes Nc’nean’s gentle fermentation and distillation process, designed to accentuate delicate and fruity characteristics. Each bottle is matured in specially treated red wine barrels (55%), American whiskey barrels (43%), and a small proportion of Oloroso sherry casks (2%).

Maintaining Nc’nean’s commitment to sustainability, every bottle is certified organic, suitable for vegans, and gluten-free. The whisky is produced in the distillery’s renewable energy-powered facility and housed in 100% recycled glass bottles, reflecting the brand’s B Corp certification status.
